Poem Saturday, Homegrown Edition
Posted October 17th, 2009 by Tawni Anderson
This is an exciting week for me, as we are posting our first-ever poem by a Lost Coin member, Liz McCoy. Her poem was inspired by a talk of Sensei’s at the Wonderland retreat in September, and the accompanying photo was taken by Liz’ husband, Brian Doubek. Thank you for sharing this with us, Liz!
***********
I am. I am. I am.
“Within Darkness there is light
But do not look for that light”
I am. I am. I am.
When there is darkness,
We look. We seek. We ask.
There is only more darkness.
I am. I am. I am.
There is a dead tree.
I am. I am. I am.
When there is darkness,
I am. I am. I am.
There is light.
I am. I am. I am.
There is a dragon where the dead tree once stood.
I am. I am. I am.

This is great. I am smiling as I enjoy the content of your poem Liz. Thank you. I have a real obsession not only for poetry but twisty wood. I somehow accumulate it from around the world and nothing excites me more than a poem except a surprise patch of twisty wood in the forest or on the beach! Rebecca is right, great pic! I love it as a reference to the tree in the poem as well. I am waiting in anticipation for your next piece!

Very beautiful
Your photo frames a tremendous poetic moment.
It’s like, amidst the twisted confusion of a black-versus-white reality, still, the sky is blue. Still, I AM.
I am so loving the poet in you!
